Starlight Hall (astronomy facility and dormitory)

천문교육숙박동

60% of Korea’s inhabited islands are in Jeollanam-do Province. With this in mind, Lucerium has been fulfilling its social responsibilities through outreach programs focused on these islands as well as other marginalized groups.
These programs include the “Mobile Museum” program or the invitation of children to Lucerium on days closed to the public.

Completed in 2019, the Starlight Hall astronomy facility and dormitory is expected to not only contribute to Lucerium’s outreach efforts, but also reduce the disparity in scientific culture between the outlying islands and the mainland. Starlight Hall takes on the shape of a space station, along the lines of Lucerium shaped like a spaceship, and its futuristic appearance, combined with the accommodation facilities, makes Starlight Hall an excellent tool for education.

Starlight Hall in itself is a fully immersive astronomical experience, featuring Korea’s largest public observatory telescope with an aperture of 1.2m, a primary observation area, a secondary observation area and accommodation facilities where cutting-edge educational experiments can take place.
